We are looking for high calibre candidates to join our successful and thriving business as trainee accountants and auditors. Positions are available to join us as university graduates or straight from A Level. Candidates must have a strong academic record (including 2.1 or higher at degree level, ABB or better at A level) and display good numeracy, literacy and IT skills. They should also have an analytical mind and a keen attention to detail and accuracy. They must be hard-working and conscientious and should be well-rounded individuals with good communication and social skills.
Barlow Andrews offers an excellent training environment, which is challenging, supportive and enjoyable. The training offered is funded through the government apprenticeship scheme and includes both academic and personal development courses. We can provide training towards qualification as a Chartered Accountant (Institute of Chartered Accountant in England and Wales) or towards qualification as an Accounting Technician (Association of Accounting Technicians – AAT), combined with a Level 4 or Level 7 Apprenticeship depending on the route taken. The AAT route can lead on to a Chartered Accountancy qualification for trainees who show the right attributes and ability at AAT level.
Our trainees gain excellent practical experience in the preparation, audit and examination of accounts, and in the preparation of corporation tax and income tax computations, working across a broad range of clients, from single director companies to multi-million pound groups.
Invariably, our trainees go on to achieve great success in the profession, the grounding they receive here acting as a fantastic springboard for their future careers. Three of our current partners trained here, as did a number of our audit, accounts and tax managers, whilst many other trainees have gone on to forge successful careers both in the UK and overseas, including as partners or managers in accountancy practices and as directors in industry.
We pay competitive salaries, with regular increases for successful trainees, and offer flexitime and paid overtime after a probation period.

Successful applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to lead an audit from planning through to completion, reporting to partners and directors. Strong numeracy, literacy and IT skills are essential. You must be a good communicator and team player and will be expected to train and develop other team members.
Experience of CCH accounts and tax software and of Caseware audit software would be advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. You should have access to your own transport and a full driving licence.
